For more than a century, the Jewish people are on their way back to the land between the Mediterranean and Jordan. The settlement of the Land of Israel is bloody contested on the ground, hotly discussed worldwide.
Most recently, it is “Israel’s settlement policy” that is harshly criticized as the biggest obstacle to the implementation of a two-state solution.
On the background of the Bible, the return of the people of Israel to the land of Israel takes on a whole new meaning. Scripture testifies that the Creator of the universe is at work, acting in history and pursuing very concrete goals.
We want to read together chapter 36 of the biblical prophet Ezekiel. In the process, we will find out how up to date this text, which was written two and a half millennia ago, speaks to our time.
